White walls & what to love about them
For those of you following along on my Instagram and blog, I'm sure it's pretty obvious that I never design a room with white walls. No matter what the style or function of a space, paint is one of my key design elements. Drawing color from furniture, artwork and rugs, I incorporate similar colors into the walls to create a complete and cohesive look. Lately, I've noticed that the white, minimal look is becoming increasingly popular. Some of my favorite designers are keeping it simple with white walls, and while I haven't fully gotten into the trend yet, I do agree that it makes a room feel clean, modern and bright. When combined with certain furniture pieces, complementary colors and other design/architectural elements, the once "boring" white walls are barely noticeable. I'm sharing some of my favorites below!
This light and airy living room designed by Pure Salt Interiors is reflective of their fresh, seaside style. The ultra white walls work perfectly with their coastal aesthetic and I love the way the tall windows break up the neutral paint.
Studio McGee is known for their bright and clean aesthetic and this bedroom is a perfect example. The white walls are played down against the canopy bed, which anchors the space, adds height and provides a large-scale focal point.
This office design is full of rich color and texture. Designed by JDP Interiors, who's biggest inspiration comes from nature, the emerald green couch is eye-catching and the perfect color to compliment neutral walls.
This living room designed by Squarefoot Interior Design showcases dark toned furniture against white walls. Adding floor-to-ceiling drapes incorporates a different texture on the walls, creating depth and dimension.
Glitter Guide featured this feminine nursery and it's the perfect setting for simple, white walls. Adding colorful artwork and a bright, bold rug (not to mention that adorable neon pink crib) infuse the perfect amount of color into the space.
